But our God is a loving God. He will discipline when we do wrong, but He will also show His love.
God gave me a second message to send to our people serving as slaves in Babylon. God said, to tell the people, "Babylon will be captured one day. A nation from the north will attack her. When this happens, the people of Israel and the people of Judah will go together and search for me with tears in their eyes. I will not forget them.
"My people have been lost, the men in charge have led them away from me to worship idols. When the time comes, my people need to run away from Babylon because I will destroy that city for treating my people so mean. I will forgive my people for worshiping idols.
"I have not forgotten my people Israel and Judah. Go home at this time and tell those who stayed in Jerusalem what happened to Babylon."
I wrote all the words from the Lord on a scroll, including all the destructions that Babylon would face. Then I told the messenger, "When you get to Babylon, see that you read all these words aloud. Then say, 'O Lord, you have said you will destroy this place.' When you finish reading this scroll, tie a stone to it and throw it into the Euphrates River. Then say, 'So will Babylon sink and rise no more because of the disaster the Lord will bring upon her and her people.
Although we will be punished for our sins, God will rescue us as He promised.
