Ezekiel 2

God spoke to me in a vision. He sat on a throne and said to me: "I am sending you to the Israelites. They have rebelled against me. This has gone on for a long time.
"I'm warning you ahead of time, these people are stubborn. When I give you a message, say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign Lord says.'
"Whether they listen to you or not is not a problem you will have to deal with. But the people must know that I cared enough to send them a prophet to warn them of what would happen if they did not obey.
"Don't be afraid if briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Don't be afraid or terrified by what the Israelites say. They will be cruel because they are a rebellious people.
"No matter what the people say or do you must give them my messages. Do not rebel like them. Now, open your mouth and eat what I give you."
A hand stretched out. In it was a scroll which God unrolled before me. On both sides of it were written words of sadness. God said, "Eat this scroll. Then go and speak to the house of Israel the message I have told you."
I opened my mouth, and he gave me the scroll to eat. I ate it and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.
God said, "Go to the people and give them my message. I'm not sending you to people who speak a different language. No. These Israelites speak the same language as you. I am warning you, they won't listen. If they spoke a different language, they might have listened to what you say, but these people will not.
"Go to your countrymen who are slaves in Babylon and tell them, 'This is what the Sovereign Lord says' whether they listen to you or not.'"
I'll tell you more next time.
